Australia Sender ID (SID) Registration & Compliance Guide
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has introduced enhanced Sender ID registration and verification requirements to combat SMS fraud, phishing, and sender spoofing. Businesses sending SMS to Australia using alphanumeric Sender IDs must comply with these registration and verification rules.
Failure to comply may result in:
• Messages are being marked as “Unverified”
• Message delivery restrictions
• Reduced delivery rates
• Potential filtering by Australian operators
• Sender ID replacement or blocking

We encourage you to review the information provided by ACMA on their website for further details: ACMA SMS Sender ID Register, and register your Sender ID with MOCEAN to ensure prompt SMS delivery. Starting 1 July 2026, all sender IDs used to send messages to Australian mobile numbers must be registered. Messages sent using an unregistered sender ID will be delivered with a local long code.
