Australia Sender ID (SID) Registration & Compliance Guide

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has introduced enhanced Sender ID registration and verification requirements to combat SMS fraud, phishing, and sender spoofing. Businesses sending SMS to Australia using alphanumeric Sender IDs must comply with these registration and verification rules.

Failure to comply may result in:
•    Messages are being marked as “Unverified”
•    Message delivery restrictions
•    Reduced delivery rates
•    Potential filtering by Australian operators
•    Sender ID replacement or blocking

Customers should:

• Register Sender IDs as early as possible
• Ensure Sender IDs align with company branding
• Use business email domains for submissions
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date company information
• Avoid generic sender IDs
